Higher efficiency with minimum cleaning
Bietigheim-Bissingen, December 2014 – Excellent painting results with substantially reduced overspray and longer intervals between manual cleaning cycles – these are the benefits of Dürr's new EcoBell3 Ci atomizer. The result is an increase in efficiency, i.e. a decrease in paint consumption, by up to 10%, extending the cleaning intervals about tenfold. EcoBell3 Ci is used for interior painting with high voltage and is suitable for all water-based paints.
The predecessor model EcoBell3 C, the world's first universal atomizer with exterior charging, can be used for interior and exterior painting as well as for painting plastic parts in the vehicle color. The atomizer is thus ideally suited for combined interior and exterior paint applications in the automotive industry. However, the atomizer has mostly been used in interior painting zones, where its full potential is not being exploited. The relatively short cleaning cycles were considered inconvenient.
To increase the efficiency of interior painting with high voltage, Dürr has enhanced three elements of this atomizer: the electrode ring, the bell cup and the shaping air ring system. The more compact design provides better access during interior painting, and high-voltage disturbances are minimized further thanks to the optimized arrangement of the electrode tips. The spray jet is more focused and there is less self-contamination.
Less paint and solvent
Beta tests conducted at two German automotive manufacturers showed that the EcoBell3 Ci operates for up to two hours without any manual cleaning. It paints 60 to 100 car bodies, used in combination with Dürr's EcoBell Cleaner D2, without any cycle time loss until the next cleaning cycle. Unproductive phases are therefore substantially reduced. Paint and solvent consumption is also lower, resulting in more sustainable production processes.
The test phase for EcoBell3 Ci will be completed by the end of this year. There is already high demand for this enhanced atomizer: it will be used in automotive plants all over the world.
