Perfect alignment prior to final vehicle assembly
Püttlingen, December 2014 – Dürr Assembly Products has completely overhauled its x-align rear axle setting station. It is now scalable, flexible, easy to maintain and even safer. x-align thus fulfills multiple customer-specific requirements by offering a maximum number of standardized function modules.
The advantages of the new rear axle setting station: It can be adjusted to varying production and alignment conditions. It offers different degrees of automation. x-align contains standard drive elements with high life expectancy. This facilitates ease of maintenance and reduces spare parts inventory. Function modules with defined interfaces allow expandability and/or exchangeability. Vertical axles with high system dynamics guarantee short cycle times. Integrated safety devices ensure high operator safety. In addition to these advances in technology, Dürr Assembly Products has also achieved substantial cost savings and reduced delivery times for x-align.
"These steps have helped to make us even more competitive. We can now implement larger project volumes", explains Gerhard Heiduczek, Product Manager Axle Assembly. First orders have already been placed by customers in Europe and China, reflecting the positive response to the new rear axle setting station.
Due to the considerably higher degree of modularity compared to earlier versions, local production facilities and subsidiaries of Dürr Assembly Products in the emerging markets are now in a position to assemble the rear axle setting stations on site themselves. Schenck Shanghai Machinery is setting a good example and has been manufacturing a rear axle setting station since mid-2014, using system components from the Püttlingen plant. This creates a significant competitive advantage in the market, not only through an optimized price/performance ratio but also through in-depth knowledge on rear axle setting in the subsidiaries. "No international competitor is able to build such complex, in part fully automated systems on a localized scale", says Gerhard Heiduczek.
On January 21, 2015, Chinese customers will find out all about the benefits of the rear axle setting station "x-align made in China", as Schenck Shanghai Machinery and Dürr Assembly Products welcome them to a customer day in Shanghai.
Schenck Shanghai Machinery is responsible for the activities of Dürr's Measuring and Process System division in China and Southeast Asia. This includes balancing, cleaning and filling technology as well as test and assembly products.
