Software for paint shops revised
Bietigheim-Bissingen, September 2014 – Operating a system should be as simple as possible, and any problems that occur should be solved fast, easily and effectively. This requires, above all, precise error messages, troubleshooting advice and a clear display of information. To meet these requirements, Dürr has been continuously working on further developing the control software and the plant visualization software for paint shops (EcoScreen). Find out more about the first milestones of this development in the following article.
The new version of EcoScreen provides a clearer and more structured display for trouble detection and troubleshooting. To reduce the number of error messages, the only information displayed in red is the element that triggered the problem, not the resulting faults. This makes it much easier to find the cause, as it is no longer necessary to search for the trigger among the subsequent faults. Another new feature is the detail window showing possible causes of faults and measures for fault clearance. In addition, the display is robot-specific, i.e. the detail window shows a list of faults for robot A as well as a list for B, C, D. Previously, these messages were not filtered but displayed in one single list.
Now, for the first time, EcoScreen also offers a graphic diagnosis of the conveyor technology. This is used if the system is run in automatic mode and the conveyor has stopped moving. In most cases this is due to a general problem such as someone entering the station during the painting process, or a faulty robot. The current status of the system as well as possible measures for fault clearance are displayed quickly and specifically.
Thanks to the new, context-sensitive user prompts, the operator is shown, step by step, how to perform certain tasks such as starting time programs or fix positions. Messages are displayed to guide the user or to explain why it is currently not possible to perform certain tasks. This ensures that even employees with little prior knowledge can operate the plant with confidence.
The new software is currently being tested in production and will then be used as default for new plants.
