High-speed balancing now also available as a service
Darmstadt, March 2016 – Schenck RoTec has been running its 13 balancing centers throughout Europe for many years. Here, the company's experts balance all types of rotors weighing anything from a few grams to 50 tons. At the beginning of the year, Schenck RoTec expanded its balancing service range by adding a key element: high-speed balancing of flexible rotors such as turbines, generators or electrical armatures.
At the Schenck RoTec balancing centers, of which there are four in Germany alone, qualified experts work on developing solutions for customers in automotive construction, electrical engineering, the aircraft and aerospace industries as well as engine construction and mechanical engineering. They check individual rotors or entire components, balance both small and large series, and eliminate machine vibration directly on site. Their specialist areas include the precision balancing of tiny rotors down to a residual unbalance of a few micrograms as well as the balancing of large rotors, all based on customized and very economical processes.
Now Schenck RoTec offers an additional service at its balancing centers: high-speed balancing of flexible rotors. Flexible rotors change their behavior with their rotational speed, which also changes the state of unbalance. For this reason, they must be balanced at their operating speed or close to it. Typical rotors include turbine rotors, generators, multi-stage pumps and large electrical armatures. The expanded range now makes it possible to balance rotors with a weight of up to 20 tons, a length of up to eight meters and a rotational speed of over 50,000 min-1. Testing the material strength by operating rotors at overspeed is available as an additional option.
