Balancing crankshafts efficiently and conveniently with BARIO
Darmstadt, September 2014 – BARIO is the name of Schenck RoTec's new fully automatic balancing machine for crankshafts. Its benefits: improved energy and space efficiency, short retooling times and ease of operation. The first of four customer days planned this year was held on September 18 to coincide with the market launch.
Compared with its optimized predecessor model KBTK-Compact, BARIO uses 10 % less energy. Its greatest savings potential lies in the reduction of compressed air consumption. This has been reduced by around 50 % by replacing pneumatic drives with electro-mechanical adjustment axes. A reduction in weight, combined with more energy-efficient drives, ensures that electricity consumption remains constant.
The balancing machine also makes efficient use of space. It is 15 % smaller in width than its predecessor. As a result, it requires less space in the production line and fits into a standard 20 ft container. This means that it is considerably easier and more cost-efficient to transport when moving to another location. As a crane-hook machine with all elements mounted on one platform, BARIO is quick to install and commission.
It is well thought-out, providing ease of operation: all components are easily accessible, assemblies requiring maintenance, such as the drill unit and tensioning station, can be operated from a standing position. This ergonomically sound position also allows users to add operating fluids more easily.
When changing over to another crankshaft model, no time is wasted. The machine uses linear units that can be positioned, allowing the user to find previous drill unit or other settings quickly and with greater accuracy. This and many further details facilitate and speed up the entire maintenance and installation process for the BARIO machine.
The CAB 950 measuring device accurately measures the unbalance and precisely calculates the required correction to be performed by drilling into the counterweights. This ensures that even the most stringent tolerance requirements are met. The measuring device offers new functions to make the balancing process even more efficient. These include an optimized correction calculator, a new statistics package and the Fingerprint analysis tool. The measuring device features a touch screen for ease of operation.
