Dürr provides network for commercial vehicle community
Bietigheim, April 2014 – Dürr supports automobile manufacturers as a partner not just in the area of passenger cars. The company delivers paint shops, application technology as well as cleaning, filling, test systems and others also for the commercial vehicle sector. On February 11 and 12, 2014, Dürr hosted the first Commercial Vehicle Conference in Bietigheim. Manufacturers of trucks, tractors and other commercial vehicles received information, for example, on current developments in the industry and were able to share their experience. Andrea Klein, Global Customer Director at Dürr, explained the background.
What gave rise to the idea of creating this platform in the form of a conference?
Andrea Klein: When we invited all our customers from the commercial vehicle sector to our first Commercial Vehicle Conference, we deliberately chose our Dürr site here in Bietigheim. We wanted to discuss concepts, expectations and strategies in terms of products as well as markets. Commercial vehicle OEMs do not have the same opportunities to meet and share their experience that are available in the passenger car industry. To emphasize how important this customer group is for Dürr, we decided to hold the event despite our innovations fair Open House, which is scheduled for May 2014 in Bietigheim.
Why is Dürr setting up an online network on LinkedIn for this customer group? What information can be found there?
We want to keep the topic current and maintain and develop contacts made during the conference. We will post links to other interesting websites, among other things with dates of events within the industry or publicly available studies. We like to share information on Dürr products, but also conduct customer polls. We can ask customers, for example, what topics they would suggest for a possible second Commercial Vehicle Conference.
What are the requirements for using the platform?
We will work with a closed user group, whereby we will invite the members of the group and Dürr will only act as a facilitator. We expect that the group of participants will steadily grow. Anyone who is interested can email me. (andrea.klein) @durr.com
What are the chances of a sequel to the Commercial Vehicle Conference?
The customer feedback was excellent, and when we asked the participants “Would you visit this event again” almost 100 % said “Yes”. At the moment we have a lot of catching up to do in certain countries with regard to establishing contact with OEMs in the commercial vehicle sector, especially in China. We are currently thinking about the format which an event like this could take over there.
