EcoEMOS Andon supervisory control system optimizes the assembly line in automotive production
Bietigheim-Bissingen, November 2015 – The EcoEMOS supervisory control system, which is well-established around the world, consists of different modules. It controls and visualizes the complete automotive production process, thus offering potential for optimization. EcoEMOS Andon, which is one module of this supervisory control system, ensures efficiency in the assembly line.
The start-up phases in the production of new models are becoming increasingly shorter. Modified assembly requirements in the modern automotive industry must therefore be implemented more quickly by the teams working on the line. This is facilitated by the Andon module in the EcoEMOS software family.
The workers have the option to slow down or even stop production during the assembly process by pulling the "Andon line". This should be done whenever a problem occurs. Although this can be due to a number of different causes, it affects the efficiency of the entire line. After a line stop, the workers select one of the pre-defined causes and enter it using the dialog box. Only then can the line be re-started.
The EcoEMOS Andon module helps to record the exact downtimes of the line and to analyze the causes. The web-based EcoEMOS software allows constant access to current and historical data. It provides the shift supervisor and the management with all necessary evaluations in a format that is direct and easy to understand. The clear evaluation of the causes enables quick troubleshooting, thus improving the efficiency of the assembly line.
The information can be displayed on large monitors in aggregate form and combined with the relevant shift targets. That way the assembly teams are always up to date.
So far Dürr has implemented this module in final assembly lines in more than 20 projects worldwide. The feedback on the efficiency of the tool has been very positive throughout. It constitutes a successful part of the EcoEMOS software family and is requested as standard in new projects by many customers.
