EcoGun2 3D is more compact and lighter with minimum pressure loss
Bietigheim-Bissingen, December 2015 – Dürr has improved the EcoGun: the new applicator for glus and high-viscosity materials bears the name EcoGun2 3D. It is substantially more compact and lighter than its predecessors. A further strength is that pressure losses at the nozzle head have been minimized by around 80 percent.
In revising the applicator, Dürr has eliminated interfering contours by placing all connections and material-containing hoses at the rear, thus rendering the EcoGun2 3D more compact. As a result, even parts of the car body which are difficult to reach can be readily accessed with this model.
The following figures highlight the differences over the preceding model: although the lance has the same length of 350 mm, the new, 27 percent more compact EcoGun can penetrate up to 12 percent more deeply. The 7 percent reduction in the cross-section of the lance allows substantially tighter parts of the body to be reached.
The fully integrated pilot valves fitted to the EcoGun2 3D ensure short switching times. Bionically designed channels improve the flow behavior of the material as well as the exit angle, thereby increasing the seam quality.
The optimized design of the Dürr applicator reduces pressure losses substantially. The drive cylinders require air pressure of only 5 bar. This is a level which is available from standard compressed air networks in the production hall. Accordingly, it is no longer necessary for pressure to be increased. Thanks to the reduced pressure losses, the same volume of material can be applied more sparingly, thus reducing the frequency with which it is necessary to refill the system.
An additional integrated valve allows the high-viscosity material to be recycled back to the dosing device. This helps to preserve the main qualities of the glu or the high-viscosity material during downtimes or maintenance.
A further advantage of EcoGun2 3D is that with a weight of around 5 kg it is substantially lighter than its two predecessors EcoGun2 und EcoGun HF, which weigh 7.5 kg and 14.5 kg, respectively.
The new high-viscosity material applicator is available in lengths of 350 or 500 mm. To change over to the other model, it is simply necessary to swap the lance and the needles.
Very easy to maintain
The standardized EcoGun2 3D is suitable for all types of application from the injection of insulating materials to seam sealing. This dispenses with the need to keep supplies of spare parts for several different models. Maintenance is also simplified as it is not necessary to disconnect any hoses or electricity cables to repair or replace the applicator. These links with the robot are not touched.
