Dürr acquires environmental technology specialist LTB
September 2013 – Dürr is consolidating its market position in the exhaust-air purification technology: Dürr Group’s takeover of environmental technology specialist Luft- und Thermotechnik Bayreuth (LTB) with effect from June 1, 2013 means that it is expanding its technology portfolio in its Clean Technology Systems division.
LTB builds air pollution control systems. International customers from the chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, print and textile industries receive tailored turnkey solutions. The company, based in Goldkronach (Bavaria), Germany, has a strong market position as a supplier to the carbon industry. There is also growing market potential for LTB’s pyrolysis technology. This energy-efficient process generates fuel gas from organic substances in production waste.
The acquisition of LTB will enable Dürr to expand its operations in the environmental and energy efficiency technology. The Group will complement its range of products and services with these innovative technologies and is seeking to open up new market segments.
LTB’s technologies supplementing the Dürr portfolio:
– SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) to reduce nitrogen oxide (used as a standalone system or downstream of a Dürr incineration system)
– Dust removal for the separation of solids (as a preliminary stage upstream of exhaust-air purification systems)
– Absorption washers for separating chemical constituents such as HCl, bromine, NH3 (ammonia), SO2 (as a preliminary stage for advance separation or downstream as a further cleaning stage after Dürr systems)
