Dürr in Turkey: Not only painting cars
June 2013 – Dürr is building a paint shop for tractor bodies at Sakarya in Turkey. The customer is Turk Traktor, a joint venture between JV Koc Group and FIAT Industrial CNH. In March 2013 they ordered two complete painting lines, which will go into operation in April 2014.
Dürr covers the whole scope of supply, beginning with the pretreatment system, followed by a dry off oven, masking area, and paint facilities. The paint facilities include a fully automatic spray booth for primer and top coat each. The top coat section is followed by a manual touch up area. Also the drying and cooling areas are part of Dürr’s scope of delivery.
For the paint application Turk Traktor is using EcoBell2 rotating atomizers with direct charge and titanium cups. These atomizers are part of eight Dürr six-axis paint robots, equipped with gear dosing pump, automatic color changer and bell cleaning system. Also the paint mix room and the paint circulation system will be delivered by Dürr. For the cleaning of the exhaust air the plant will be equipped with a regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO).
Through the whole lines the tractor bodies are led by a Power & Free overhead conveyor. This technology convinces through its easy maintenance and its high reliability.
The whole planning and implementation of this project that was won against international competitors will be done by the Italian Dürr companies of OLPIDÜRR and VERIND for paint application. With their well proven technology they will provide a capacity of 32,400 tractors per year, painted in a two shift production.
If Turk Tractor needs any after sales assistance, this also will be no problem: Dürr is present with a local subsidiary that was founded in Istanbul in 2007. This fact helps Dürr in the growing Turkish market to assist customers on site. In addition to Turk Traktor these are OEMs like Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Fiat, Renault, Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, and many others.
