Fast fault analysis and speedy troubleshooting
March 2013 – The "Fingerprint" is a new service product in balancing technology. With this state-of-the-art system, Schenck RoTec paves the way for a status monitoring solution for balancing machines. With its help, you can avoid unplanned downtimes and increase the maintenance efficiency.
Use the fingerprint to evaluate the machine status and carry out a fault analysis without installing additional measurement and analysis technology. This is made possible by means of the existing CAB measurement technology and vibration sensors. They use the signals of the balancing machine to evaluate the measured vibration pattern.
In practice, it works as follows: Prior to delivery and during initial commissioning, the Schenck service engineers from Schenck RoTec record the first vibration pattern of the new, ready-for-use machine. This “machine fingerprint” with its very specific characteristics is archived and forms the basis for comparison for all other activities.
A regular fingerprint allows not only fast and specific troubleshooting, but also supports regular machine monitoring for the purposes of preventive maintenance. During preventive maintenance, a fingerprint of the machine is recorded at regular intervals. Via a dedicated access on the Schenck RoTec homepage, this fingerprint is transmitted to the Service Center in Darmstadt (Germany) for fully automated comparison with the archived data. The service technician receives the evaluation within minutes via email. Thus, conclusions can be drawn on the status of the machine and wear, faults or damage can be detected very accurately. Incipient problems are thereby identified at an early stage so that repairs can be scheduled.
If a fault occurs, speedy analysis of the causes is guaranteed. The service technician records a current fingerprint of machine on-site and mails it to Darmstadt. After detailed analysis, he promptly receives a current status report. In this way, the Schenck technician finds the cause of the problem faster, and the machine is ready for operation again within the shortest possible time.
