From micro gas turbines to heat exchangers
September 2012 – Dürr is expanding its activities in the area of energy efficiency. For this purpose, the Group established its newest division, Clean Technology Systems, in 2011. Dürr develops customer-specific applications in-house while additionally relying on interests in organizations that have extensive expertise in relevant technologies.
Dürr is making a considerable contribution toward reducing emissions in different industries. With the help of technologies such as micro gas turbines, ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle), heat exchangers and heat pumps, the utilization of excess process heat, waste heat as well as conventional and alternative fuels to store, transmit or convert energy and generate electricity is now possible.

Micro gas turbines convert gaseous and liquid fuels as well as waste air containing VOC (volatile organic compounds) into electricity in an efficient, low-emission and economical way. The residual heat can be used for steam production, heating, air-conditioning, drying, CO2 fertilization or in an ORC process.
Dürr Cyplan develops systems for generating electricity on the basis of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology. Existing waste air sources at stationary internal combustion engines, furnaces or industrial processes can thus be used profitably to generate electricity.
