New test center for cleaning systems
November 2013 – Dürr opened a new test center for cleaning technology in São Paulo (Brazil). At this and six other centers, cleaning tests are performed for customers using their original parts and simulating production conditions.
The tests ensure that processes are safe and a suitable system is selected that meets the customers' quality requirements. Laboratory tests are conducted to analyze contamination levels, perform compatibility tests, and assess residual soiling and quality levels of cleaning media. Dürr is the only company in South America that offers this standard.
Two cleaning systems are available at the test center in São Paulo. The Universal 81W is suitable for removing oil and emulsion from mass-produced parts but also for the fine cleaning of assembly parts. All cleaning stages are based on an immersion process using aqueous media. The Universal 81W is a cost-efficient and high-performance system. Owing to its modular design, it can be used for a wide range of applications in parts cleaning.
Another system available at the test center is the Minio 85C, a compact, solvent-based cleaning solution that requires little space. The system uses non-halogenated hydrocarbons as highly powerful cleaning media which allow the safe and economical use of solvents for removing oil, grease, and metal chips between or after production processes.
Small facilities with comparatively low production capacities as well as large-scale plants with decentralized cleaning stations benefit from the sophisticated process technology of the Minio 85C. Program versions with immersion processes, vapor degreasing, and vacuum drying provide optimum conditions to meet the requirements expected of modern manufacturing processes in terms of quality and functionality.
The test center in São Paulo was launched at a customer day, where 13 companies from the automotive, aircraft, supplier, and other industries were represented. The customers found out more about the Dürr Group as well as Dürr Ecoclean and its product portfolio. During a tour of the center, the participants watched tests with both cleaning systems and learned about their mode of operation. The adjoining laboratory was also presented.
Dürr Ecoclean has six further test centers at present: in Filderstadt and Monschau (both Germany), in Shanghai (China), in Wixom (US), and since May 2013 in Pune (India). A further center will be opened next year in Loué (France). The ultrafine cleaning specialist UCM, one of Dürr's subsidiaries, is currently expanding the test center in Rheineck (Switzerland).
