New test center for handling doors and hoods
Bietigheim-Bissingen, May 2014 – Dürr’s new test center offers the company’s customers a range of test facilities for handling doors and hoods during the interior painting of bodies. Opening and closing processes can be tested in advance. This guarantees fast, low-risk commissioning. Reliable and efficient handling processes ensure the quality and high productivity of interior painting operations. The test center in Bietigheim-Bissingen is the first of its kind in the world.
Equipped with two handling robots and a freely programmable conveyor system, it offers test facilities for various customer bodies and handling tasks. Spray processes can be simulated in both stop & go and tracking modes. Various tools and sensors can be tested operationally to optimize the interplay of the body, equipment and handling robots.
In addition to faster commissioning of new systems, the main feature of the new test center is the opportunity to call on optimized, tried-and-tested technology when production is launched. 3D simulations and a “wet test” in the painting test center take account of the interplay of the spraying and handling processes, with the result that the optimization of all aspects of quality and soiling issues is also addressed.
Dürr is therefore adding a further module to its comprehensive test facilities, to supplement the existing test centers in Germany, the US, China, Brazil and – brand-new – in Japan.
