Simple and efficient cleansing of process bath fluids
March 2012 – For several years Dürr has offered, with the EcoMultiCyclone, a reliable filtration system for the degreasing and rinsing baths utilized in the pretreatment of body shells in the automotive industry. Now Dürr has further developed the EcoMultiCyclone: in addition to improved cyclone inserts the filter system is even easier to access and maintenance friendlier.
The EcoMultiCyclone is a purely mechanical separator with a throughput volume of 60 m³/hr or alternatively of 120 m³/hr. The system, offering a high degree of filtration efficiency and requiring little space, is increasingly replacing conventional systems such as band and bag filters. The filter system attains an excellent separation efficiency level of 90% for particle sizes from 30µ and from 50 µ even of 100%. This means that the EcoMultiCyclone separates out relevant particles in the pretreatment baths that are larger than 25 µ.
The new and optimized EcoMultiCyclone also stands out because of the improved access it offers, which in turn simplifies its maintenance. The top plate can now be removed, making cyclone insert replacement easier and at the same time reducing the height required for removal. For cyclone cleaning purposes the lower discharge outlet is more easily accessible and the connecting piping can also be turned to different angles.
High filtration efficiency brings positive benefits: it reduces chemical consumption and lengthens the lifecycle of the bath fluid. With the EcoMultiCyclone the normal waste water production can be halved for bath volumes of 50 m³ to 70 m³. At the same time coating quality is improved as less dirt particles are carried over into subsequent baths.
The core elements of the Dürr EcoMultiCyclone however are its inserts made from an abrasion-resistant, extremely high performance plastic. The inserts withstand not only abrasion through the process fluid but also the high pressure in the cyclone. They are not liable to breakage, as is the case with ceramic inserts. As part of the further development of the EcoMultiCyclone Dürr has also upgraded the material specification for the inserts and aligned it even more to suit the conditions in the interior of the cyclone. Results show this has been worthwhile: lifecycle expectancy is even higher and deformation and abrasion are reduced to a minimum. 4 inch EcoMulticyclone inserts are already available - 2 inch inserts will be available from mid 2012.
