Space for robot assembly significantly extended
September 2013 – Thanks to a new production building, Dürr has expanded its space for robot assembly on its Bietigheim site by 6,600 m² to 17,900 m2.
This has enabled the company to improve its operational workflows because neighboring buildings are no longer required. These were rented in the past because of the high demand.
The new production building is fitted out with robot assembly lines and also offers space for logistics and quality assurance operations. The new building is connected to the existing assembly facilities via a corridor. Since the third building went into operation, all painting and sealing robots are now assembled at the company headquarters in Bietigheim-Bissingen and fitted with the corresponding application equipment; performance tests and pre-commissioning tests are also carried out here.
The automotive industry is continuing to plan a large number of investment projects, for example for automating the process of painting vehicle interiors, which was still mainly carried out manually until recently. Dürr is contributing to the development of highly efficient painting processes with its innovative technologies.
The new production building is just one of the building projects designed to extend Dürr’s headquarters. The company also upgraded and expanded the world’s largest test center for painting technology in Bietigheim-Bissingen in 2013 in response to strong customer demand.
