Tailored closer to customers' needs
June 2013 – The largest test center in the world for painting technology has been modified: Prompted by the extremely high customer demand in the year 2012, Dürr decided to modify robot booth 2 in the Test Center Paint in Bietigheim-Bissingen (Germany). The investment costs amounted to 2.3 million euro.
The booth was equipped with the latest technology. With six robots that are identical as far as process engineering is concerned, it is possible to carry out tests with the spray diffusers that are used most frequently at Dürr's for inside and outside painting, as well as tests with or without high voltage. One- or two-component water-borne or solvent-based paints can be used. The new pivot-and-lift table for the car bodies is horizontally and vertically adjustable. With this platform, it is possible to re-enact any system installed in the customers' premises. All in all, 13 different painting processes can be demonstrated in the modern booth.
"Now, we are able to offer our customers tests tailored even closer to their needs", says Rainer Laufer, head of the team responsible for the Test Center in Bietigheim.
The modified robot booth 2 was inaugurated in April, 2013. After a brief celebration, the first customer test started in the booth.
