One-stop solution designed and built in-house
December 2012 – Dürr will shortly be offering its application technology customers a high-pressure regulator designed and built in-house and is expanding its service provision. For the EcoFlow Sealing the company turned to a proven product for gluing in final assembly which can now be used – with modifications – for a new application field.
Until now Dürr has had to buy in pressure regulators from other manufacturers. In the first quarter of next year, however, the company is launching its own product.
A high-pressure regulator is used in the supply of material to application systems. It reduces or increases the pressure which arises during feed of the adhesive to the level required for the subsequent process steps. The high-pressure regulator therefore protects the downstream equipment against unnecessary pressure peaks or ensures that the required quantity of material is applied to the vehicle body. It can be used in an automatic unit or in a manual application process.
The EcoFlow Sealing high-pressure regulator is part of the application system. Depending on the body, this system is using in a variety of automotive production processes: for sealing seams, for underbody protection and for coating sills.
The EcoFlow Sealing represents an expansion of Dürr’s service provision: the customer can obtain spare parts for all application technology components from a single source and has a specified contact.
The in-house unit has a compact, space-saving design, low weight and is easy to maintain. Even in the event of pressure changes it operates without fluctuations and permits straightforward, comprehensive monitoring of the process.
The high-pressure regulator successfully underwent endurance testing at the Sealing Test Centre in Bietigheim and was then tested for several months under real conditions in a customer’s plant. Another customer has already ordered this in-house development from Dürr for his new site where production is scheduled to begin in 2013.
